man-walks-from-world-2

Over the past 30 days I have been bombarded with calls and emails from current and prior Club Hustle & Flow patrons. The influx of calls and emails stem from an event that involved the exaltation of Andre Landers

Let me first start off by articulating what exaltation is. To exalt means to:

1. To raise in rank, character, or status; elevate (From Man to Prophet/Apostle)
2. To glorify, praise, or honor.
3. To increase the effect or intensity of; heighten
4. Obsolete To fill with sublime emotion; elate

So how was Dre Exalted? From numerous accounts the incident occurred at the end of Sunday worship. One of Dre’s newly elevated bosses was giving the offertory appeal (AKA guilt trip/begging for money instead of allowing for free will giving because THEY don’t trust you or God for giving) when he made an appeal for the congregation to assemble by section and come “touch the Prophet’s Profit’s feet (In a show of support). Instead of making an offertory appeal to further God’s work, the service turned into a “Come Exalt & Touch The Feet” of the “Mand of Gawd.” The event turned into an opportunity for Dre to collect thousands (Probably used to pay his tax debt).

Why was this an act of man exaltation? Simple, God does not share the spotlight with anyone. To Put Dre in the midst (Giving to God Is an act of worship) of a time when God should be exalted is flat out wrong. This event has Satan all over it. The exaltation of man is where the Word of Faith movement sharply deviates from the Bible and historic Christianity. The great lie of Satan has always been, ‘You will be like God’ (Genesis 3:5). In the beginning, Satan’s sin was pride. In Isaiah 14:14 the Bible says that he declared the he would be like the Most High God and then he uses the same false claim on any man who will head him. After his fall, this same echo of pride has been used to tempt man throughout the ages.

Dre’s exaltation at THAT moment and time shut God out. Instead of praising God, the congregation (some, not all) took the opportunity to “make much of” Dre for what he does. “Making Much” i.e. touching feet and throwing money at someones feet, is a false show of love. The only person that deserves our exaltation is God. Even God exalts Himself. John Piper says this in his book “Don’t Waste Your Life.

God is the one being in the universe for whom self-exaltation is the most loving act. Anyone else who exalts himself distracts us from what we need, namely, God. But if God exalts himself, he calls attention to the very thing we need most for our joy. If great paintings could talk, and they saw you walking through the gallery staring at the floor, they would cry out, “Look! Look at me. I am the reason you are here.” And when you look and exult in the beauty of the paintings with those around you, your joy would be full. You would not complain that the paintings should have kept quiet. They rescued you from wasting your visit. In the same way no child complains, “I am being used” when his father delights to make the child happy with his own presence.

The Day They touched Dre’s feet was a dangerous day! It suggested that Dre should be honored like God is. It assumes that Dre is an equal with our heavenly father and the Prophets of the Old Testament. The incident (I really don’t think the newly appointed Boss meant to do this) resembled one of the oldest Satanic tricks, Man Exaltation! However, in the midst of this mess I still thank God. Sometimes God has to allow for negativity to enter our lives before we make a change. You don’t wipe dog mess off of your shoe until you smell it. Leaving the dog mess on your feet would be absurd!

Dre has no place sharing the same type of Glory or honor The Lord should. All of us at some point in life make much of something other than God. Just like honoring and or exalting a job, money, booze or lust is a sin (Because it worships SELF)so is “Touching The Mand of Gawd” in a way that exalts!

One of the most misunderstood virtues plaguing our society today is love. Websters defines love as:

strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties…

….warm attachment, enthusiasm, or devotion

However The giver of love, God, does not view love the way the world does. Real Godly love focuses on what is BEST for mankind versus what makes us FEEL better. We often think we are loved or being loved when our emotional state is touched or we are moved emotionally. Love is all about telling someone the truth when they are wrong. Love is telling your child they can’t go to the party because you know violence will break out. Love is telling a loved one that the doctrine they are subscribing to is killing them spiritually, physically and emotionally.

The Club Owner at Club Hustle & Flow Andre Landers, repeatedly murdered a portion of scripture that is probably one of the greatest versus in scripture that emphasis God’s love.

16“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[a] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

Landers exegesis of the text contends that God so loved His Order (World  or Universe) that  He Sent His only son to die for it. WRONG (Game Show Buzzer going off). The word Kovsmo (Cosmos) has several different contextual meanings.

It is true that God sacrificed Himself to save the World or Kovsmo. However the word “Kovsmo” must be taken into proper context. Kovsmo must, in context, refer to the entire world. Compare to 1 John 2:15

15Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

It is clear based on the contextual use of the word World, that John is talking about a lost, evil rebellious world. In specific, John is talking about the evil sinful man or women that is, you and I prior to salvation. In other words God loved a perverse, sinful, evil, unholy group of humans on this planet called Earth that He (God) was willing to do the right thing (Which is God’s nature and TRUE LOVE) and sacrifice all. This sovereignty of God is incomprehensible to man. The World deserved death but God chose before the formations of the World to save it! This is a great reminder to us just what is important as we live out our lives, God’s love and the opportunity we have to live through His Glory!

Sadly the Pimp of Hampton used this scripture to remind folks of God’s “order” and the need to sow, tithe, give money  blah blah blah blah !

Wall Street

Everywhere you turn today you hear of ways to survive the current economic downturn better known as “The Recession.” However I cannot recall one instance where I heard anyone in the media or on Christian Television (Radio or Internet) decipher God’s purpose behind the recision. Yes, God’s purpose! After all, God allows and permits any and everything on the earth.

John Piper of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota delivered an outstanding sermon on “The Rescission.” Pastor Piper gave 5 God centered purposes for this recession:

  1. God Desires To Expose Hidden Sin – God is using our anxiety, fear and hopelessness to show us just how sinful we are. Recessions have a way of bring the WORSE out of us. God wants to expose that hidden sin through recession. Yes my friend FEAR is a sin because it tells God we don’t trust Him. In addition the exposing of our sin shows us just how much we need to rely on the Lord. God is exposing hidden sin such as lust (of Cars), money, pride and man worship.
  2. God Wants Us To Wake Up – God wants to wake us (As Americans) up to show us just how bad our fellow brother and sister is. The united states, despite of the rescission, is still doing better than OVER 2/3 of the global population. God is using the recession to show us just how bad someone else is doing. From this revelation, God wants us to learn to address the most dire causes of this world. A pastors 18K light bill and 15K tax bill is nothing compared to someone in Africa living without clean water .
  3. God Wants Us To Relocate Our Roots – God wants to yank us up by the back of our shirt and snatch us from what we have been rooted in for years, our prosperity, our money, our businesses, our buildings our STUFF. God wants to replant us in good ground. God wants us to be planted and rooted in HIM and not in our cars, homes, jobs and money. This recession by far is about just that, money, automobiles, jobs and property. God is taking all of that away so we can focus on Him.
  4. God Wants To Use The Recession To Advance His Salvation Mission – God throughout time has used the most dire circumstances to advance His agenda (Not ours). Throughout the bible you can see God at Work in a recession; Abraham and Sara conceiving a Son in their old age, God parting the Red Sea to lead the Israelite nation out of Egypt, Bread of Heaven, The Walls of Jericho, God’s list goes on and on.
  5. God Wants Us To Care For Those Hurting In The Church Acts 4:34God intends for us to care for the hurting because he wants us to grow in love. Nobody should ever lack anything in the church. Far too many people I know are leaving “The Club” are doing so because they are in need and are hurting! Yet in the Club Owner and his Bouncers (Deacons and Ministers) contend that the “Mand/Prophet of da House” Club be protected and shielded against the lies spoken against him. Landers is not the only person hurting, the entire body outside of The Club is hurting. I pray that the money laid at Landers’ feet a few weeks ago was spent to help a member in financial need! Landers needs to stop worrying about folk talking about him and start worrying about the people he is hurting with his greed and lies!

Look at Pastor Piper’s Message in its entirety. I pray that his message will bless you like it blessed me.

worship

Do we really know what “Worship” is as Christians. Honestly,  if asked this question at gun point could you answer the question “What is worship” before getting your head blown off! The following is an excellent comparison contrast of what God worship is and what “man centered worship is.

The Goal of Worship

First of all let me expound on the goal of worship. Glorifying God is our ONLY aim when worshiping God. It is our highest priority.

31So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

I Cor. 10:31

It sounds elementary, but the purpose of our corporate worship service is for our congregation to worship God. Evangelism, though important, is secondary.

What is worship?

The Bible doesn’t give a formal definition of worship. But lets start by seeing what various words for worship mean. The English word “worship” comes from two Old English words: weorth, which means “worth,” and scipe or ship, which means something like shape or “quality.” We can see the Old English word -ship in modern words like friendship and sportsmanship – that’s the quality of being a friend, or the quality of being a good sport.

So worth-ship is the quality of having worth or of being worthy. When we worship, we are saying that God has worth, that he is worthy. Worship means to declare worth, to attribute worth. Or to put it in biblical terms, we praise God. We speak, or sing, about how good and powerful God is.

This is a purpose for which we are called:

You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light

1 Peter 2:9.

We were called for the purpose of praising God, worshiping God. That is one of the job descriptions of a Christian. We should declare that God is worthy, worth more than everything else put together.

Now let’s look at the biblical words. In both Hebrew and Greek, there are two major kinds of words for worship. The first kind means to bow down at ones feet, to kneel, to put one’s face down as an act of respect and submission. Our body language is saying, I will do whatever you want me to. I am ready to listen to your instructions and I am willing to obey. The other kind of biblical word means to serve. Roughly half of the time these words are translated as worship, and the other half as serve. It carries the idea of doing something for God — making a sacrifice or carrying out his instructions.

Of course, word meanings don’t prove what worship is, but they do illustrate three kinds of worship. There is

1. worship that involves speaking, and
2. worship that involves listening, and
3. a worship that involves doing.

There is a worship that expresses the heart, and worship that involves the mind, and a worship that involves the body. There is a worship that is giving praise upward, a worship that is receiving instructions from above, and a worship that carries out instruction in the world around us.

God Centered vs Man Centered Worship Comparison

The following is a comparison of God Centered and Man Centered Worship:

Sinner Friendly vs Seeker-Driven Worship

According to Romans 3:10-18, there are none who seek God from their hearts. Though we must show love and concern for the sinners who attend worship (In a congregation), we must be careful not to design the worship service around their desires, but around God’s desires. We must remember that the greatest obstacle for the unbeliever is his sinful heart.

In contrast the the seeker-driven model, the worship service is adjusted to “meet the needs” [better called ‘wants’] of the unbeliever, making it ‘relevant’ for unbelievers i.e. making the word “plain” for people to understand, or putting the word on the “bottom shelf”.

The theology behind this seeker-driven movement teaches that everyone seeks for God, and all we need to do is take obstacles out of an unbeliever’s way in order for them to come to Christ. This is dangerous because it allows for the things NOT of God to blend into a worship service.

Entertainment vs. Worship

True Godly worship is done before an audience of One. We are all the participants, and the desire is that God is pleased with our worship (Rev. 5:13, Phil 2:10-11) We stand in awe of God, and then our affections are stirred, not vice versa (Acts 2:43)

With Man Centered worship having the goal of ‘bringing ’em in’ and ‘cleaning them later’ as the top priority results in turning the worship hour into an entertainment session i.e. celebrity guests, lights, dancing etc. The focus is taken off standing in awe of God and placed, instead, on what the participant will enjoy or how he/she will feel.

Needs vs Wants

Godly worship is achieved when  we focus on what man truly needs, we must understand that our greatest need is for God. When we look to God first and do things His way, the outcome will meet the deepest needs of men. (Matt. 6:33)

Man centered worship is dangerous as it relates to needs vs wants. In the name of being ‘needs-based’, the focus actually becomes on what people want i.e. money, favor, and material well being. While people’s shallow desires are constantly fed, the deepest needs are left unmet. This camp tends to produce rapid quantitative growth and a lack of qualitative growth i.e PRAISE reports. All the while the things we REALLY need are left undone often i.e. mended marriages, deliverance form addictions and deliverance from cults.

Human Worth

Human worth is not diminished by being God-centered. Instead, it is established. That is, when we focus on God who alone has worth in Himself, and we understand that we are created in His image, this brings us great worth. (II Samuel 22). However, man has no worth in and of himself, and being man-centered in one’s approach to anything is ultimately futile. Honoring MAN in ritualistic ceremonies and signs of allegance is futile as compared to honoring God, PERIOD

Worshiping God in Spirit and Truth

God desires worshipers who will worship Him in spirit and truth. (John 4:24) We must know the majestic, holy God and our sinfulness in order to worship Him rightly. When we exalt a MAN in our worship service we fail to worship GOD. Man should be completely removed as the focal point of worship.

Conclusion

I honestly hope this post helps the sheeple who often times are subjected to shown allegiance to a MAN who calls himself a Prophet or Apostle or is declared one by his Club Goers.

I have been studying and deprogramming since I escaped from the stroll. I am replacing messed up thinking with the unadulterated word of God. I have found that topics such as “Eschatology” or end times is not a “sexy” sermon for the pimps of the day.  However our Lord admonishes us to know the times and what they will bring. I love what Peter says in 2 Peter 3:3-6:

3First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. 4They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our fathers died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.” 5But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water. 6By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed.

Ask the typical Club goer about “the End Times” and they will give you the excuse that “no one knows the time or place….” However, failure to discern the end times can make one oblivious to the attacks of the enemy and the false doctrines that are running rampant.

The need for proper discernment of the times was most evident to me this Sunday. While visiting a church this Sunday, an old Deacon, while praying said ….”and Jesus went to Hell and…Took back the keys to the kingdom…” I liked to went off! Nevertheless, I had to give the old Deacon some grace because I now know where he got his information (misinformation)

So did Jesus go to hell between His death on Good Friday and His resurrection on Easter Sunday? The Apostles’ Creed states that Jesus, “was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead.” The Athanasian Creed asserts, “Who suffered for our salvation, descended into hell, rose again the third day from the dead.” Therefore, two of the three great ancient creeds affirm that Jesus “descended into hell” sometime between His crucifixion and resurrection. However, is that is not what the bible teaches?

The short answer to this question is, “No.” The biblical authors were more accurate in their use of words than some of our Bible translators or creed writers i.e.” religious men. There are two Greek words for the abode of the dead. (Greek is the language in which the New Testament of the Bible was originally written.) Hell (Geenna in Greek, also called the lake of fire and the eternal fire) was made for the Devil and his minions (Matthew 25:41) and will be occupied by all the unrighteous after the last judgment (Revelation 19:20-21 and 20:10-15). There is no biblical evidence that anyone has gone there or will go there until after Jesus’ Second Coming (Revelation 19:11-16). This includes Jesus Himself.

So briefly, there are two distinct places for damnation that were and will be used at God’s set time:

  1. Sheol (Aka Hades or Hell). Christ went here to get the righteous men and woman Who lived prior to arrival of the Christ. The unrighteous in Sheol continued to be tormented.
  2. The Lake of Fire (Special place for Satan himself). It is presently uninhabited, but the Beast and the False Prophet will be cast into it at the end of the tribulation (Revelation 19:20)

Just a closer look at the word will revel a lot. Looking at the “Fine Print” in your own bible will save you a lot of heartache in these end times.

“It is easy when we are in prosperity to give advice to the afflicted.” Aeschylus

I have searched for days trying to figure out where the Roots (The band that is credited for the CD artwork above) got this journalistic masterpiece from.

You don’t have to be a Rocket Scientist to figure out that the photo is from the Civil Rights era. And like the title says “…Things Fall (are Falling) Apart…”

Likewise you don’t need to be a Nuclear Physicists to figure out that things are not ‘quite right’ in the Body of Christ. The “Club Owners” and Pimps claim to be necks or connections to “The Head” (Christ) thus connecting to the Parishioner to the body. But how can these men really connect to the body when they are so far removed from the body. Several of these so called men of God are fleecing the sheep and creating wealth off of the backs of the sheep. It is not hard to preach about giving when the proceeds represent 10% of your “one trick pony. You loose the revenue stream of the sheep and you loose “your church” , salary and offering.

The sad thing about all of this is that many of the sheep think that their destiny is tied into the “Man’d of Gawd.” How silly! Our purpose in life is to give God glory and to worship Him not man and not your pastor (Is 43:7). Christ died so that we can gain access to the Father (Ro 5:1-5)!

When things fall apart turn to the source, Christ Jesus. Don’t be fooled in thinking that your pastor has all the answers you need to keep it together. Trust God, get into his word, trust and have faith in Him. Trust Him for the the grace He gives us unconditionally and unmerited. Don’t get caught up in believing God for a Bentley. A Bentley is not important at this age. Materialism will only take your focus away from God.

Your pastor is trying to figure out how to keep it together when “Things Fall Apart.” But the Master Builder has 66 books that can solve any problem. HIS word is better than any prosperity message preacher can dish out!
